Experience
Prior to establishing Bingham Art Advisory LLC, I spent over 30 years working in the international art auction business at Christie's and Bonhams. I was a Vice President in fine the art departments of 19th Century European Paintings and Sporting Art, Impressionist and Modern Art, and American Paintings. I then moved into Business Development where I served as a Director and a Client Advisor and was charged with setting global strategy for fine arts departments and working with clients across all collecting fields, including Post-War and Contemporary Art. I traveled extensively throughout the US and Latin America to gather works of art for consignment for both auction and private treaty, and I traveled frequently to London and Paris to represent clients at relevant auctions.
Bingham Art Advisory LLC was formed in 2018 and since then I have assisted clients with the sale and purchase of objects across many collecting disciplines, both nationally and internationally. I am also a certified member of the Appraisers Association of America, with areas of specialization in both 19th Century European Art and Impressionist Art. I have been engaged to value works of art for Insurance, Estate Tax, Non-Cash Charitable Donation and Financial Planning purposes. I am USPAP compliant.
I received a B.A. in the History of Art from Yale University where I wrote my thesis on Modigliani and Primitivism. In addition to my many years in the auction world I have had gallery experience. I am a Certified Member of the Appraisers Association of America, Inc., and am compliant with the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP).
The combination of these experiences has given me a unique overview of several markets and introduced me to a broad network of dealers and collectors. The art market is now more global than ever and knowing where to go and who to trust is important in sourcing and selling to get the best price.
